ITP 2013 : September 17 – Rige Shiba

Well, I believe it would be quite unfair if I don’t mention about Bristol city at the very outset. I guess after spending a few days in this Green Capital, a first time visitor would certainly think twice before packing their bags to return home. Such is the charm of the place dotted with historical monuments and it grows on you after a while.

The Bristol Museum and Art Gallery is our host for the 10 days partner museum placement and we are making the most of their galleries, collections and of course their warm hospitality! Based on our interest and requirements the sessions and lectures are tailored made so that we return all enriched and happy at the very same time. Sessions on various topics ranging from Museum Management, Museum Volunteering, Fund Raising, Friends of Museum, partnership with sister organization around UK, special meetings with Directors from Tourism-oriented museums like Roman Baths, Holburne etc. had something for each of us (ITP participants) to learn about. I was personally very satisfied with the session on Friends of Museum with Sue Harlow and Sue Giles.
As I prepared to leave for our accommodation and call it a day, I just thought about the hot meal waiting for us at Kate’s (Curator Asian Department, Bristol Museum and Art Gallery) residence and it instantly brightened my face with a wide smile. I guess there is no better way to end a day than being welcomed with a hot meal (at somebody else’s house) and realizing that we are looked after so well!!

Well, don’t we always save the best for last?
