This session explored the changing role of museums and the skills that future museum professionals will need to deal with those changes. The contributors imaged what the museum staff of 2023 will look like and how museums can start to develop those staff now.
Some of the ideas discussed looked at staff needing to be:-
- Well-rounded and knowledgeable of other cultural sectors
- Job sharers
- Having good language skills
- Project managers
- ‘Media savvy’
- International networkers
- Risk-takers (who are willing to try, fail and try again)
- Bold, uninhibited
Perhaps a daunting list of skills – are you ready????
